The Life and Loss-of-Use Coverage for your Child

Accidental deaths and loss-of-use are not exclusive to any age group, even children can become victims of accidental deaths and loss-of-use. In case of such a menace, you need an adequate protection to protect your child financially, give them the assistance they need and help them to recover their independence as much as possible. Blue Cross life, accidental death, and loss-of-use insurance are designed to help you achieve these purposes. This coverage will pay a lump sum between $2,500 and $25,000 in the event of accidental death, natural death, accidental loss of speech, hearing, sight or use of limbs. The percentage of the amount insured you will receive depends on the condition that occurred. For instance, you will receive 100% of the amount insured if the child dies, or loses both eyes, feet, hands, one hand and one foot, one hand, and one eye, one foot and one eye or hearing and speech.

Eligible Expenses and Features

If the insured child is a student between age 17 and 25 (both inclusive), he will be paid $200 per week from June 1 to August 31 (inclusive), following the date of the accident, if the child remains disabled during this period. The child will also be eligible for a tuition payment for private courses or for re-education up to $5,000 for each accident. This is only possible within 6 months of the accident.

  • This coverage will pay a lump sum between $2,500 and $25,000 in the event of accidental death, natural death, accidental loss of speech, hearing, sight or use of limbs.
  • The percentage of the amount insured you will receive depends on the condition that occurred.
  • The insured will receive 100% of the amount insured if the child dies, or loses both eyes, feet, hands, one hand and one foot, one hand and one eye, one foot and one eye or hearing and speech.
  • You will receive 50% compensation for losing one hand or one foot, or sight of one eye or speech/hearing and so forth.
  • You will receive 25% of the amount insured if you lose your thumb, 6.25% if you lose a finger other than the thumb, and 75% if you lose one arm or one leg.
  • If the insured child is a full-time student between age 17 and 25 (both inclusive), he will be paid $200 per week ($28.75 per day for an incomplete week) from June 1 to August 31 (inclusive), following the date of the accident, provided the child remains disabled during this period.
  • Blue Cross will pay tuition for re-education or private courses up to $5,000 for each accident for the child’s academic rehabilitation. The child must take advantage of this benefit within 6 months of the accident. It also covers school transportation.
  • The coverage ends when the child does not meet the contract criteria any longer based on the definition of a dependent child given in the provision of the contract. It also ends if the coverage does not cover the child any longer.
