Yes, you are covered for any travel outside provide or country. However, your dependents must be eligible for the QPAT’s group insurance plan to be covered.

  • What coverage applies to me when I travel out of the country or province?

IA provides several coverage benefits to the insured when traveling outside Canada or province. These include:

  1. Accommodation in a hospital.
  2. Prescription medication due to a medical emergency.
  3. Physician services.
  4. Diagnostic and laboratory services, medical imaging.
  5. Hospital and outpatient supplies and services. Etc.
How long can I travel outside my province or Canada?

You are expected to spend less than 90 consecutive days when you travel outside your province or Canada. The benefit does not cover you if you spend more than 90 days.

How do I fill out the claims form?

Follow these processes to fill out your claim form.

  1. Verify your personal identification information and make appropriate corrections.
  2. If your public health insurance number does not appear in the form, make sure you indicate it.
  3. Provide detailed answers to every relevant question in the form.
  4. Ensure that the form is properly signed in the appropriate place indicated in the form.
Will the plan cover the cost of refilling my prescription while travelling if I forget my prescription medication at home?

No. Prescription medication may only be covered if it is prescribed as a result of a medical emergency situation that arose outside a province or country.
