Sun Life Personal Health Insurance

Sun Life Financial offers a spectrum of health insurance plans tailored to varying needs: Basic, Standard, and Enhanced. These plans provide a range of coverage options, spanning from essential medical services to more comprehensive benefits. With Sun Life's health insurance, individuals can select the level of coverage that best suits their requirements, ensuring access to quality healthcare while safeguarding their financial well-being.

Basic

Sun Life provides basic personal life insurance to help cover your health and dental needs. The personal health insurance Basic plan can also help you if you are losing your group health coverage. To apply for the plan, the insured must be less than 70 years. However, the plan can be renewed by seniors 70 years and above. The insured is guaranteed 60% reimbursement of their premium amount. With this plan, you can claim eligible expenses in prescription drugs and dental care respectively at an annual maximum of $750. The plan includes up to $250 per year in smoking cessation drugs, and additional medical equipment such as hearing aids. Services also included are accidental dental care and ambulatory services. 

Standard  

The standard plan includes several features such as vision care, emergency medical travel, semi-private hospital room, prescription drugs, preventive dental care and many others. Just like the basic plan, applicants should be under 70 but the plan is renewable for policyholders above 70. Applicants that have any of the illnesses listed in the policy are not eligible. If you have a pending surgery, or are awaiting doctor’s investigation or tests, you are not eligible for the plan. You will be reimbursed 70% of your first $7,000 annual expenses but complete reimbursement for the next $93,000 annual expenses will be held subsequently in prescription drugs. You can also claim eligible expenses in prescription drugs at an annual maximum of $100,000. You’ll have access to several preventive dental coverage options such as examinations and diagnosis, white fillings, scaling and minor extractions, and space maintainers for children under 12. You’ll also have access to emergency medical care for the first 60 days of your trip, with access to $1 million for life in maximum claims on emergency travel.

Enhanced 

The enhanced plan provides the insured access to higher prescription drugs, as well as restorative and orthodontic services. The restorative dental coverage includes endodontics, periodontics, crowns, oral surgery, bridges, and dentures. The orthodontics includes interceptive, interventive, preventive orthodontic services, and also comprehensive orthodontic treatment. The insured will be reimbursed 80% of the first $5000 on annual expenses, as well as 100% of subsequent $245,000 annual expenses on prescription drugs. Reimbursement of any money spent on supplemental healthcare also applies. This also includes a total reimbursement of money spent on paramedical practitioner services up to $400 in a year, and money spent on vision care up to $200 in 2 years. You can also have access to emergency medical care on the first 60 days of your trip, with access to $1 million per lifetime in maximum claims on emergency travel. You also have options for restorative, preventive, orthodontics dental coverage.

Sun Life Critical Illness Insurance 

Sun Life Financial presents a diverse array of critical illness plans designed to provide essential protection during challenging times. With various plan options available, individuals can choose coverage that aligns with their specific health concerns and financial priorities. These plans offer financial support in the event of a critical illness diagnosis, helping policyholders and their families focus on recovery without the added burden of financial stress.

Basic

The Express Critical Illness Insurance Basic Plan from Sun Life Insurance covers the insured should they become diagnosed with Cancer, and survives for 30 days from the date that they were diagnosed. Eligible applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 65. The policy includes $25,000 in coverage and no medical exam or questionnaire is required. You must not have smoked any tobacco or marijuana products in the past 12 months. The application process is fast and is completely completed online. 

Enhanced

The Express Critical Illness Insurance Enhanced Plan from Sun Life covers heart attack and stroke. The policyholder must survive for 30 days from the day they are diagnosed. The plan pays out a one-time tax free benefit and the coverage is up to $25,000. Policyholders must be between the ages of 18 and 65 years of age. Policyholders have 30 days to try out the policy before they decide if it's for them or not. No medical exam or questionnaire is required. 

Comfort

The Express Critical Illness Comfort Plan from Sun Life provides coverage to the policyholder for cancer; heart attack; stroke; coronary artery bypass surgery; aortic surgery; major organ transplant, and major organ failure on waiting list. Eligible policyholders must be between the ages of 18-65 years of age. The coverage amount is for $50,000. Your premium amount is guaranteed to remain fixed for the first 5 years of your policy. You are able to add up to 5 children for $2.50 per month to get $5,000 in coverage per child. This plan also includes Teledoc Medical Experts® to assist you.

Sun Critical Illness Term 10

Sun Critical Illness Term 10 is a critical illness insurance from Sun Life that covers 26 life-threatening illnesses. The policy is guaranteed to renew every 10 years until the policyholder is 75 years old. The coverage amount for this policy is $25,000 to $3,000,000. You must be between the ages of 18 to 65 years old in order to apply for this plan. Children between 30 days old and 17 years old can also be covered with this policy. 5 childhood illnesses are covered, and plan coverage for children is between $25,000 and $1,000,000. 

Sun Critical Illness Term 75

Sun Critical Illness Term 75 from Sun Life is a critical illness insurance that covers 26 life-threatening illnesses. There are two payment options for this policy - the option to pay up until you are 75 years old, or the option to pay for 15 years. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 65 years old in order to qualify. The coverage amount you receive is between $25,000 and $3,000,000. Children can also be covered with this policy, and they must be between the ages of 30 days old, and 17 years old. 5 childhood illnesses are covered, and the policy amount for children is between $25,000 and $1,000,000. 

Sun Critical Illness Lifetime Term 100

Sun Critical Illness Lifetime Term 100 from Sun Life is a critical illness insurance that covers 26 critical illnesses. Children can also be insured under this policy, and 5 childhood illnesses are covered. This plan is critical illness insurance for life. Premiums remain fixed for the entire term of the policy. Policyholders have the option to pay to the age of 100, or to pay for either 10 years, or 15 years. The coverage for the adult plan is between $25,000 to $3,000,000. For children the coverage amount is between $25,000 to $1,000,000.

Dependents could be receiving assisted care in their own home, at a long-term care facility, or at a retirement home. The plan is for anyone between the ages of 21-80 years old. Coverage amounts range from a minimum of $150 per week, or a maximum of $2,300 combined per week for all long-term care insurance. Dependents are identified as individuals who require assisted living on a daily basis due disability, injury, or illness. 

Sun Retirement Health Assist

The Sun Retirement Health Assist plan is designed to help you cover your health expenses when you retire. There is a 1 - 2 year waiting period for the plan, and you must be between the ages of 45-71 in order to apply. The coverage amount that you are eligible to receive is a minimum weekly benefit of $125, or a maximum benefit of $2,300. In order to qualify for the plan, you must require constant supervision because of your mental health, need substantial daily assistance with at least 2 activities of daily living, and require assistance for bathing and transferring.

Health Choice A

This health coverage is for individuals who are leaving their workplace group benefits plan. You will have 60 days after leaving your previous group benefits to replace it with the Health Choice A. You must be between the ages of 18 to 74 years old in order to qualify for this plan. This is the basic health plan from Sun Life, which includes coverage for prescription drugs, vision care and paramedical services that include chiropractic and physiotherapy. 

Health Choice B

This plan from Sun Life Financial is for individuals who are leaving their workplace group benefits.You must be between the ages of 18 to 74 years old in order to qualify for this plan. You have 60 days from leaving your previous group benefits in order to replace it with Health Choice B. You will get coverage for prescription drugs, vision care, paramedical services, dental care, hospital accommodations, and medical equipment. 

Health Choice C

This health insurance plan from Sun Life Financial provides the most extensive coverage. Individuals must be between the ages of 18 to 74 years old in order to qualify. You will have 60 days after leaving your previous group benefits in order to replace it with Health Choice C. The plan includes coverage for prescription drugs, vision care, paramedical services, dental care, hospital accommodations, medical equipment, emergency medical travel insurance, and critical illness insurance.

There are only 3 questions for you to answer regarding your health. You will also receive temporary coverage while your application is reviewed. 

Sun Life Go Term

The Sun Life Go Term plan is available for a term of 10 years or 20 years. You will get to choose your coverage from $100,000 to $1,000,000. Regardless of the term you choose, your monthly costs will remain the same. Eligible applicants must live in Canada and be between the ages of 18 and 69 years old.

Sun Spectrum Term

The Sun Spectrum Term life insurance from Sun Life provides coverage in amounts between $50,000 to $15,000,0000. This plan also comes available in terms of 10, 15, 20, or 30 years. Premiums are guaranteed with this plan. The plan can be renewed or converted to permanent at the end of the term. A death benefit will be provided in case the policyholder passes away. 

Sun Term Life

Sun Term Life insurance is term life insurance offered by Sunlife Financial, and is available in terms of 10,15, 20, or 30 years. The coverage received on this plan ranges from $250,000 to $15,000,000. Rates are guaranteed and the policy is renewable at the end of the term. The plan is renewable and can be converted to premium at the end of the term. Should the policyholder fall critically ill, they may be eligible to receive a living benefit.

Sun Life Go Guaranteed Life Insurance

This is the guaranteed no medical life insurance offered by SunLife Financial. Even with preexisting health conditions, you will still qualify for this plan. The policyholder gets to choose their coverage which ranges from $5,000 to $25,000. This plan is offered to Candians between the ages of 30 and 74 years old. As long as premiums are paid, your beneficiary will receive a payment after your death. 

SunSpectrum Permanent Life II

The SunSpectrum Permanent Life II insurance from SunLife Financial offers permanent life insurance available to you at a guaranteed premium option of 10 years, 20 years, 30 years, or to age 100. There’s a guaranteed death benefit for life, and a guaranteed cash value that begins as early as the third year of holding the policy. The maximum coverage with this policy is $10,000,000. 

Sun Par Protector II

Sun Par Protector II from Sun Life Financial is a permanent (whole) life insurance. The payment options with this plan include the option to pay for life, to pay for 10 years, or 20 years. The maximum coverage with this plan is $15,000,000. For ages 0-17 years old, the minimum coverage amount is $25,000. For the ages of 18-85 years old, the minimum coverage amount is $50,000. 

Sun Par Accumulator II

Sun Par Accumulator II is a permanent (whole) life insurance from Sun Life Financial. The minimum coverage on this plan is $250,000, and the maximum coverage is $15,000,000. The payment options are pay to life, pay for 10 years, or pay for 20 years. This insurance plan includes a death benefit and cash value to meet your investment needs. 

Sun Par Accelerator

The Sun Par Accelerator from Sun Life Financial is a permanent (whole) life insurance policy. The minimum coverage with this plan is $250,000, and the maximum coverage is $15,000,000. You can purchase an enhanced insurance with your yearly dividends.

If diagnosed with life-threatening conditions, the insured will receive 50% of his death benefit up to $250,000; this is referred to as Living Benefit. The policy offers guaranteed cash value. Optional benefits in this plan include a total disability waiver benefit, owner waiver death benefit, owner waiver disability benefit, owner waiver death, and disability benefit.

SunSpectrum Universal Life II

The plan is customizable with the several optional features.

You can design an investment mix that suits your saving goals with the numerous investment account options included in the policy. If diagnosed with life-threatening conditions, the insured will receive 50% of his death benefit up to $250,000. You can access the policy fund by making one withdrawal when disabled, injured or ill. You can take out policy loans or withdraw cash from your policy provided you have enough cash in your policy. This option makes the plan further flexible.

SunUniversal Life II

Four investment account options are provided in this plan. These include guaranteed interest account, daily interest account, sun life diversified account and managed accounts. If diagnosed with life-threatening conditions, the insured will receive 50% of his death benefit up to $250,000. This is referred to as Living benefit. You can access early death benefit when you select joint last-to-die plus fund death benefit. The coverage options in the plan include single life, joint first-to-die, joint last-to-die with costs payable to the first death, and joint last-to-die with costs payable to the second death.
