  • The policy includes 21 life-threatening conditions such as life-threatening cancer, heart attack, stroke, coronary artery bypass surgery, kidney failure, major organ transplant, aortic surgery, heart valve replacement, blindness, deafness, paralysis and many others.
  • The insured must survive the diagnosed critical illness condition for at least 30 days before he can receive the associated plan benefits.
  • The insurance plan is available for Canadians between age 18 and 65. You can buy coverage from $25,000 to $2,000,000.
  • Premiums can be paid by check annually or semi-annually. You can also pay monthly by bank debits.
  • Your beneficiary will be refunded for all your premiums (without any interest added) if you have not made any claim before you die. This benefit is included irrespective of the cause of your death.
  • The plan also includes a 10-day free look guarantee. This serves as a satisfaction guarantee.
  • Several other no-cost benefits are also included in this plan. Such benefits are competitive scholarships for higher learning tuitions about $8,000, emergency grants for temporary financial assistance to members who are victims of disasters or hardship and so on.
  • Additional benefits included in this plan are return of premium (ROP) rider which allows you to discontinue premium payment at any point after your 10th policy anniversary; on activating this benefit, you can receive a percentage of your paid premiums and close your coverage. It also includes disability waiver for people continuously disabled for more than 6 months.
  • Another additional benefit included in the plan is juvenile LifeCare rider which includes 13 critical illnesses covering children under age 21. An eligible child suffering from one of the included ailments will be qualified for a tax-free lump sum.
