According to the recent Organic Law for the Promotion of Production, Attraction of Investments, Employment Generation and Fiscal Balance enacted on August 21, 2018, foreign tourists no longer need to take out health insurance to enter Ecuador Continental.

Enrique Ponce De Leon, the Ministry of Tourism head promoted the elimination of health insurance and the process is fully supported by Lenin Moreno Garces, the President of the Republic. This is done to maintain tourism competitiveness in the country without increasing cost for the tourists. This will increase the support for the receptive tourism industry of Ecuador.
