Great-West Life Co Inc is merging its insurance brands. The company plans to combine Great-West Life Assurance Co and two of its subsidiaries, namely Canada Life and London Life.

The company formed by the merger will be known as Canada Life and it will consolidate a total of 13 million Canadian customers.

Paul Mahon, Great-West Life president and chief executive said in a statement that the event marks the beginning of a new and exciting chapter for their company in Canada. He further added that the company will be able to deliver a unified and simplified experience for the customers, consultants, and advisors as a result of the merger under one brand.

According to the release, the merger is to enable the company to offer a unified set of services and products and the merged company will be called the Canada Life Assurance Co.

However, Great-West Lifeco subsidiaries including Freedom 55 Financial, Quadrus Investment Services, GLC Asset Management Group, and GWL Reality Advisors will maintain their existing brand. Furthermore, the merger will not affect Great-West Life Co’s European and U.S. businesses.
