Hundreds of people were saved in a dramatic rescue at the Adriatic Sea after a fire on board a ferry close to Albania and a Canadian man was among the people saved.

According to a spokesperson at the Greek embassy in Ottawa, one Canadian identified to be N. Pejcinovksi was among the 422 passengers and 56 crew on the ship’s manifest but his whereabouts were not known.

The fire broke out on a car deck of the Norman Atlantic on a journey from the Greek port of Patras to Ancona in Italy. A minimum of 10 people died.
