A topnotch 3 Tesla MRI scanner was disclosed at the largest hospital in Newfoundland and Labrador, located in St. John’s – the Health Sciences Center on Wednesday, June 6, 2018.

The province’s Department of Health pointed out that the diagnostic tool will remarkably improve the treatment and diagnosis of illnesses such as brain cancer, multiple sclerosis, prostate cancer, aneurysm, and so forth. The Eastern Health pointed out that the scanner will allow for shorter examination times by generating high-quality images quickly.

Furthermore, the new machine would be more spacious and more comfortable for patients. It also has several built-in features that would minimize anxiety. The provincial government funded the installation of the $4 million MRI scanner through $2 million, while the Health Care Foundation and its donors provided the rest of the $2 million.

Also, the Eastern Health also has an additional two 1.5 MRI scanners in the region which will be relevant in providing a detailed diagnosis of several conditions.
