Wawanesa announced on July 31, 2018, that it planned to sell its insurance products, including auto insurance, exclusively through Quebec insurance brokers. This would be a notable mark in the company’s 90-year history in Quebec.

The insurance company planned to discontinue direct sales of its residential and auto insurance from October 1, 2018, and thereafter sell exclusively through eleven independently owned and operated insurance brokers in Quebec.

Carol Jardine, President of Wawanesa’s Canadian Property & Casualty Operations said that the company would be giving the customers affordable and dependable insurance coverage together with expert independent advice by working with Quebec brokers. She also pointed out that the company’s secret of success is basically their partnership with insurance brokers and they are delighted to introduce this model in Quebec.

As a part of the transition, a lot of Wawanesa’s service offices will be converted to brokerage locations. Stephan Bernatchez, President of Fort Insurance & Group Benefits said that insurance brokers in Quebec are deeply connected to the local communities and Wawanesa shares this commitment. He added that the partnership is great news for their newly shared clients and will help to drive future growth for brokers across Quebec and Wawanesa as well.
