Learn about Miniature Pinschers Pet Insurance

Commonly known as the “King of Toys” or Min Pin, the Miniature Pinscher is a leggy, sturdy and compact dog that stands no more than 12.5 inches at the shoulder. A small dog with a “big dog” personality, Min Pins have slightly oval and dark eyes. They look much like the Doberman Pinscher and many think that they were developed from the Doberman but Min Pins are much older dogs.

Min Pins make an excellent companion dog and they love the company of their family. The known history of Min Pins dates back to several hundred years. Historians believe that the breed was bred in Germany to kill rates in homes. Due to its resemblance to small deer or the “reh”, it was known then as Reh Pinscher.

For your dog to be healthy, it will require good quality dog food, regular exercise and also routine veterinary care. In some cases, the dog may develop critical illness and will need urgent veterinary treatment. Most of these cost thousands of dollars and you definitely don’t want to pay out of pocket. You can take out Miniature Pinschers pet insurance to provide assistance to you in covering the cost of veterinary treatments.

With so many pet insurance companies in Canada, it is often difficult to choose the best pet insurer for your dog. This is why it is advisable to shop around and compare policy options before you go for any policy. Miniature Pinschers Pet Insurance News

Mia Johnson, a Vancouver woman who owns a miniature pinscher, said that her dog, Yuri, was killed in a pit bull attack in Vancouver.

She said she’s devastated by the loss of Yuri and was shocked when a Staffordshire bull terrier (pit bull) attacked her miniature pinschers while she was walking the dogs on Dunbar Street.

According to Johnson, a woman walking a pit bull approached them while she was out for a walk with her daughter and two dogs. Although the larger dog was on a leash and appeared to be wearing a muzzle, he was also out of control.

Unfortunately, the leash became tangled and the larger dog’s muzzle got loose. As a result, the dog grabbed her smaller dog in its jaws. Johnson said she banged on top of the dog’s head as hard as she could but couldn’t get it to let it go.

When the dogs were separated, her dog was already disemboweled and howling in pain. Yuri was a volunteer therapy dog at a Vancouver palliative care center. The dog would comfort patients on his weekly visits. He was a calm little dog and would get on the patients’ beds, just loving them, Johnson said.

The City of Vancouver seized the pit bull and bylaw officers are investigating the situation.
