London Health News

London Health Sciences Center psychiatrists aired their grievances to the CEO and board of directors of the hospital about the decadence in mental health care in the city.

In a letter written by a vast majority of LHSC psychiatrists to CBC News, the psychiatrists expressed their utmost concern about the state of healthcare in the hospital and its continued decadence. The doctors outlined that the hospital has been having difficulty in managing patients volume and that the challenge is becoming more pronounced by day.

Furthermore, the letter publicly condemned the absence of transparency in the management of the hospital, stating that the hospital managers take a top-down approach and do not give attention to suggestions made by nurses and doctors and also put pressure on young psychiatrists to discharge patients.

The psychiatrists stated that the physician body has never felt as disconnected from hospital leadership as it does with LHSC and that the system including its access and flow is utterly dysfunctional. Moreover, the hospital’s focus on emergency and inpatient services is very inefficient and expensive.
