Greater Sudbury is an Ontarian city located in the northern part of Ontario. It is the most populated city in Northern Ontario and the 29th most populated city in Canada, with a population of 161,531, based on the 2016 Canadian population census. Furthermore, the city’s economy has largely diversified nowadays, making the city a center for tourism, health care, education, finances, science and technology, and government.

Greater Sudbury is a center for art and culture. The city’s art is influenced by the community of the large Franco-Ontario. The community consists of about 40% of the city’s population. Greater Sudbury has two art galleries, namely, the Art Gallery of Sudbury and La Galerie du Nouvel- Ontario. The city also has several festivals with Cinefest Sudbury International Film Festival as its primary annual film festival.

Mark Hartman, an Austrian radiation therapist who became a part of Health Sciences North (HSN) in 1992 will become the senior vice president of the hospital’s Patient Experience and Digital transformation soon.

Hartman would assume his new duties and succeed David McNeil on December 10, 2018, after the latter accepted the position of the president and chief executive of the Brant Community Healthcare System, effective from December 10.

According to Dominic Giroux, the president and CEO of HSN, Out of the 34 applicants for the position, Hartman was recommended collectively by a committee of 10 members which comprises union presidents, Board members, medical and administrative leaders, and the Co-Chair of the CEO’s Patient and Family Advisory Council.

Hartman will lead a clinical portfolio comprising over 2,240 full-time equivalent employees, 2,100 learners, 500 highly skilled medical staff and 469 beds in 13 sites in the city and 25 locations outside Greater Sudbury and within northeastern Ontario with a clinical budget of over $356 million.
