Dianne and Irving Kipnes announced at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, that they have made a donation of $10 million to the University Hospital Foundation so as to advance research and patient care at the Northern Alberta Urology Center. Sequel to the donation, the center was renamed in honor of the philanthropists.

For years, Irving Kipnes has been dedicated to advancing men’s health and urology care for patients in northern Alberta as a co-chair in the Campaign for Prostate Cancer. The campaign raised $30 million to build the Northern Alberta Urology Center at Kaye Edmonton Clinic by bringing together the University of Edmonton Hospital Foundation, the Alberta Cancer Foundation and the Royal Alexandra Hospital Foundation.

Moreover, Dr. Dianne Kipnes is a patron at the University of Alberta Hospital and Cross Cancer Institute. She is a retired clinical psychologist who has contributed immensely in the areas of prostate health, cancer and lymphedema. The two were appointed to the Order of Canada in June owing to their philanthropy in health and arts.

The Dianne and Irving Kipnes Urology Center consists of 32 patient examination rooms, a lithotripsy area that breaks up kidney stones with shock waves, and six cystoscopy rooms for processes that visualize the interior of the bladder. The C.J. Woods Prostate Health Clinic is the most important part of the center. It is designed to provide comprehensive and quick care to men who need treatment from prostate cancer.
