Surrey Collision Reporting Centers

Claims and collisions can be reported in B.C. 24/7 a week. However, before you report a claim involving an accident or collision, you will need the license plate number of each of the vehicles involved, each driver’s license, and the vehicle’s insurance information if it is not insured by ICBC.

Furthermore, if you need your claims to be processed faster, it is required that you obtain the name and address of your preferred repair facility if the vehicle is not drivable as well as the police file number.

Collisions are not the only type of claim you can report in B.C. Some other types of claims you can report include hit and run, emergency roadside expenses, vandalism, fire, theft, and weather.

If the collision involves the damage of a piece of glass in your vehicle, you should report it at a Glass Express facility approved by ICBC for glass and windshield claims. If more than one glass is damaged, you should call ICBC.

After reporting a claim, ICBC will send you an email that includes your claim number, and an adjuster will review your claim within a day. You can also check your claim details anytime when you log in.

Surrey Auto Insurance News

Irrespective of the fact that it has a monopoly on the auto insurance industry, ICBC is deeply submerged in yearly financial loss. Besides, British Columbian’s poor driving habits are causing more accidents by day.

The vice-president of the Pacific region, for the Insurance Bureau of Canada, Aaron Sutherland, made a call to ICBC to allow the private sector to make an entrance into the car insurance marketplace. He said that ICBC is complacent in developing new insurance products that would reduce the rising premiums. He added that this is largely caused by the organization’s monopoly.

Sutherland said in a news release that companies compete for business, innovate, create new products and strive to deliver the best service in order to survive. He added that the best way to make sure that drivers receive the best insurance products at the best price is simply opening up the insurance marketplace.

ICBC will spend an extra $2.4 million to improve traffic enforcement throughout the province in the 2019-2020 fiscal year. This will increase the annual investment in road safety of the Crown agency to $24.8 million. This is due to the high auto crash of about 350,000 reported in B.C. in 2017.

However, Sutherland said in an interview that privatizing B.C. auto insurance and the simmering accident statistics are not connected. Due to the monopoly of ICBC, there has been a slow response in the marketplace to bring in innovations and new products that would help in addressing the challenges, Sutherland added.
