Burnaby Collision Reporting Centers

You can report your claims in Burnaby or any other B.C. city 24 hours a day Monday to Friday. You need to get the license numbers of each of the drivers involved, each vehicle’s license plate number, and vehicle’s insurance information if the vehicle is not insured by ICBC.

After obtaining the information, you can then report the claim. However, ICBC allows you to report various kinds of claims. These include collision, emergency roadside expense, hit and run, and vandalism, weather, theft, and fire. You can also report the collision online if you are a registered owner, lessee or principal operator of the vehicle.

In situations where only a piece of the vehicle’s glass was damaged and no other related vehicle damage occurred, you can visit any Glass Express facility approved by ICBC to report the collision. But you should call ICBC if there is any other damage involved.

Also if the vehicle is not drivable, you will need to get the name and address of your preferred repair facility to process the claim faster. If applicable, you should also provide the Police file number for a faster claim.

British Columbia already has the highest average auto insurance rate of all Canadian provinces but the province is still taking further steps to hike ICBC rates again. The British Columbia Utilities Commission (BCUC) recently gave approval for the basic auto insurance rates in the province to be increased by 6.3% on an interim basis.

According to ICBC, the new rates the new rates will be applicable to new policies as well as the renewal of already existing policies. The auto insurance rate increase is set to begin on April 1 or after. Furthermore, ICBC promised to set up a public review process to have an overview of its application of the higher rates.

According to David Eby, the Attorney General, the provincial government is modernizing ICBC’s operation with an aim to make the rate offered by the public insurer fairer. Eby said that the changes will greatly minimize the legal costs tagged to claims on minor injuries and also offer improved care for people who are involved in crashes.

After the proposed rate increase, Andrew Wilkinson, B.C. Liberal leader said that the 45-year-old auto insurer, ICBC, ought to be absolutely revamped to provide better features to British Columbians.
