Chatham-Kent is an Ontarian city, located in the Southwestern part of the province. It is a single-tier municipality and comprises seven population centers which include Dresden, Chatham, Wheatley, Wallaceburg, Ridgetown, Tilbury, and Blenheim. Most of the areas in Chatham-Kent are mostly rural and the present municipality of Chatham-Kent was created in 1998 when Kent County and its municipalities were merged.
The city of Chatham-Kent has a population of 101,647, based on the 2016 Canadian population census, this makes it the 53rd most populated municipality in Canada. The city has a land area of 2,457.9 square kilometers and a population density of 41.4 per square kilometers.
Chatham-Kent has an economy mainly based on agriculture and energy. It is home to the headquarters of Pioneer Hi-Bred Limited, a division of DuPont, located at the outskirts of the city. Several other agribusinesses, automotive and energy companies are located in Chatham-Kent such as GreenField Specialty Alcohol Inc, AutoLiv Canada, KSR International, Dana Canada, RM Auctions, Union Gas, and so forth.
The city also has several attractions including provincial and national parks such as Wheatley Provincial Park, Rondeau Provincial Park, and Point Pelee National Park. Other attractions in the city include conservation areas, long and white sandy beaches, fishing and hiking trails and so forth.
