A Borzoi has become an Instagram star and has so many followers. Eris, the Borzoi, is easy to recognize because of her unique breed. Borzois are sighthounds. They look like long-haired greyhounds.

Eris is a growing pup. She’s just 10 months old and weighs about 80 pounds. Borzois were originally bred for show. However, Eris has a fierce overbite and so she’s not a show dog, said Joey Kamburian, the dog’s owner.

The Borzois may not be a typical Instagram model but she has attracted untold attention in the dog world. Eris has garnered well over 50,000 Instagram followers in less than a year.

One reason why the dog became so popular in Instagram is that the social network featured the dog on its page.

Kamburian said: “Instagram featured her on the main page, and she just, like, exploded. It was very strange”.

The picture got more than a million likes and went viral across the world.

Kamburian said that his dog received messages from people in several parts of the world including France and Germany. He noted that the reason for posting her picture on Instagram was to document her growing up and to keep favorite pictures of the dog every day and then it turned out that the whole world wants to watch too.
