Wire Fox Terriers Pet Insurance News

Beating a popular Sussex spaniel and a longhaired dachshund, a 7-year-old wire fox terrier King from Brazil clinched the first position in the 2019 Westminster Dog show held on February 12.

King’s handler Gabriel Rangel said: “it doesn’t get any better than that”. It was hardly a surprise win.

Wire fox terriers are the top winner in dog shows in the United States. The breed has won 15 times, far more than the second breed Scottish terriers, only 8.

There were some boos when judge Peter Green pointed to the dog. Rangel praised his dog, he said: “I look at King, he’s like a beautiful painting, a piece of art”. “The way he stands and performs, he’s the whole package”, he added.

Rangel was overwhelmed with joy when the judge announced his dog as the winner. Due to the victory, neither he nor the dog have much time to rest. They had to pay a visit to morning television shows, have a steak lunch at midtown eatery Sardi’s and so forth.

No prize money was given to the owner Victor Malzoni Jr. of Brazil. However, his benefits include a shiny silver bowl and lucrative breeding rights. He also has a lifetime to brag about the victory.

The wire fox terrier whose full name is Kingarthur Van Foliny Home has had an overall best in show wins 47 times. He also did well at the largest dog show in the world, Crufts in England.
