Learn about Welsh Springer Spaniels Pet Insurance

The Welsh Springer Spaniel is a medium-sized bird dog known for an attractive coat of bold red and white patterns and a tapered head. Males stand 19 inches at the shoulder and females stand 18 inches. The dog is smaller than English Springers spaniel and larger than Cocker spaniels. They are commonly described by fans as being of handy size.

Welshies have beautiful coats which are weatherproof, thornproof, and waterproof. This makes the dog useful irrespective of the terrain and climate. The breed is believed to have originated from Britain. In fact, it is one of the oldest spaniels of British origin. Spaniels are generally known to originate from Spain but it is not known how Welshies traveled from Spain to Wales in ancient time. This is a pretty old breed; British literature and art around 250 BC show dogs that look like Welshie.

It is important to take out Welsh Springer Spaniels pet insurance as soon as you purchase your dog. The coverage should cover the cost of the dog’s hospitalization, accident, illness, injury, diagnostic test, emergency care, surgery and so forth. Some insurers also include optional coverage that covers routine procedures such as vaccination and checkups.

As pets grow old, they become prone to certain health problems. Furthermore, genetic diseases could manifest easily in older pets. So, it is a bad idea to wait until your pet grows old to get coverage. This is because once the pet is diagnosed with a chronic illness before the start date of the coverage, the condition will be excluded from the pet insurance coverage. In other words, no Welsh Springer Spaniels pet insurance covers pre-existing conditions.
