Vancouver Funeral Insurance News

Canadians often ask the Memorial Society of British Columbia whether they should prepay their funeral expenses but Nicole Renwick, executive director of the Memorial Society of B.C. says that people asking the question are thinking that it would be good to pay for future costs today and they want to save their loved ones the stress of making financial decision when they have passed.

However, the Memorial Society can assist you to pre-plan rather than pre-paying your funeral and also arrange for the disposal of your remains. Also, you will be required to pay a nominal membership fee. Nicole noted that the Memorial Society has been helping people with end of life arrangements for over sixty years. She added that they have more than 242,000 members in the province, making it the largest memorial society in North America.

By pre-planning with the Memorial Society, you will be completing an arrangement form that details your wishes and ensures that your survivors know that you are a member of the Society. Nicole added that the deceased’s survivors are required to call the Memorial Society in the event of death. The Memorial Society will then refer them to a funeral home registered with them to ensure that they get the necessary member discount.
