The new West Park Healthcare center project has been awarded to EllisDon Infrastructure Health Care. According to a release issued by the center, the contract worth up to $1.2 billion is a fixed price contract intended to finance, maintain and build the new hospital. It includes the maintenance of the hospital facilities over a period of 30 years.

The new facility is scheduled to open in 2023 and up to 80% of the beds will be in single-patient rooms. Furthermore, it is expected that there would be a noticeable increase in the outpatient care space so as to cater for double the current volume of patients.

According to Christine Elliott, the health and long-term care minister, the new West Park Center is an important project that will support patients and their families in Toronto by making therapeutic services easily accessible.
