Scottish Terriers Pet Insurance News

A Scottish Terrier named Sadie won best in show at the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show in February 2010. To take the top honor at the New York City competition, Sadie beat a French bulldog bred in Canada and five other purebreds.

Judge Elliot was the first to pick Sadie. Then two women walked into the ring and held a sign over their head that read “Mutts Rule” and “Breeders Kill Shelter Dogs’ Chances”. The latter is a slogan that was made popular by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

According to the police, the two women namely, Dana Sylvester and Hope Round, both PETA members, were charged with criminal trespass. While the organization supported them, it said that they acted on their own.

The victory at Westminster will give Sadie her 112th best-in-show ribbon. Sadie beat six other purebred dogs in the final competition. These include a whippet, a Brittany, a Doberman pinscher, a white toy poodle, a puri and a French bulldog.
