Learn about Pugs Pet Insurance

The Latin phrase “multum in parvo” meaning “a lot in a little” describes Pugs. Although Pugs have a small body, they are muscular breeds. The breed comes in various colors but has a mostly glossy and fine coat. Canines in this breed are known to be mischievous, charming and loving. They have a great sense of humor and also a sturdy and compact build.

Pugs are one of the oldest dog breeds known even before 400 BC. The origin of the dog breed can be traced back to over 2000 years when breeds like Pug, Pekingese and Shih Tzu were developed as refined pets for emperors of ancient China. Pugs became popular in the 1500s when Dutch traders took a specimen of the breed to Europe. The breed is known by several names in various places – it is known as Lo-sze in China, Mopsi in Finland, and Doguillo in Spain.

Even though they are a great breed, Pugs can develop certain health problems as they grow old. This is why you need to take out Pugs pet insurance as soon as you purchase your dog to be sure that it is financially protected no matter the health issue that may occur.

However, when taking out Pugs pet insurance, you need to make sure you go for a policy that has few or no exclusions. You also need to keep an eye on and understand what the policy covers as well as the stipulations, limits, waiting period and exclusions to be sure that your pet is well covered. The pet insurer’s policy regarding the pet’s breed or age may vary, so, it is recommended that you find out what applies for Pug before you take out the policy.

Why Pugs Pet Insurance Is Important

Pugs are very friendly dogs. They adapt well with novice owners but do not have distinctive intelligence. Canines in this breed do well in moderate weather but they can also do well anywhere in the world if you take good care of them.

Your furry friend may be prone to certain health problems. Some of the common problems with the breed include eye prolapse, necrotizing meningoencephalitis, demodectic mange, hip dysplasia and so forth.

Each of these conditions requires thousands of dollars in veterinary care and treatment. A condition like hip dysplasia will require at least $5,000 in veterinary care. Rather than going through a strain to treat your pet out of pocket, you could take out Pugs pet insurance to protect your furry friend against any unexpected health problem and medical emergencies, especially with the rising cost of veterinary care and treatment.

Here is a list of common sicknesses Pugs might develop:

  • Cheyletiella Dermatitis (Walking dandruff)

Pugs Pet Insurance News

Julie Young got a mysterious phone call two days after her Pug dog, Bailey, got missing from her Kitchener home. The woman, who remained anonymous said she knows where Bailey was being held and she was willing to meet up in person to provide further information.

Series of strange and confusing events followed the call and in the end, $150 was demanded for exchange of information. The caller provided a texted photo of the dog in a Superman suit and a co-ordinated police takedown.

Michael Green, Bailey’s second owner described it as something out of a movie. The woman agreed to meet with Young in a nearby convenience store. When she came into the store, she was nervous and didn’t want anyone to know who she was.

She provided details and address of a man to contact and after some complicated processes, Young was asked to pay $150 just for an address to where Bailey is being held. The man demanded only one person to meet him behind a dumpster but he didn’t know that Young had been in contact with the police.

Eventually, the police apprehended the villain, got the address and retrieved the dog. While Young was overcome with emotion to have her dog back, Bailey was nonplussed. Young explained that the dog is half-deaf and is exhausted.

Officials say that cases of stolen dogs are not uncommon in Ontario. “They will come, take dogs and sometimes make you pay to know where they are at”, Green said.
