Julie Young got a mysterious phone call two days after her Pug dog, Bailey, got missing from her Kitchener home. The woman, who remained anonymous said she knows where Bailey was being held and she was willing to meet up in person to provide further information.

Series of strange and confusing events followed the call and in the end, $150 was demanded for exchange of information. The caller provided a texted photo of the dog in a Superman suit and a co-ordinated police takedown.

Michael Green, Bailey’s second owner described it as something out of a movie. The woman agreed to meet with Young in a nearby convenience store. When she came into the store, she was nervous and didn’t want anyone to know who she was.

She provided details and address of a man to contact and after some complicated processes, Young was asked to pay $150 just for an address to where Bailey is being held. The man demanded only one person to meet him behind a dumpster but he didn’t know that Young had been in contact with the police.

Eventually, the police apprehended the villain, got the address and retrieved the dog. While Young was overcome with emotion to have her dog back, Bailey was nonplussed. Young explained that the dog is half-deaf and is exhausted.

Officials say that cases of stolen dogs are not uncommon in Ontario. “They will come, take dogs and sometimes make you pay to know where they are at”, Green said.
