Option 1 is best for occasional prescriptions and dental visits, option 2 provides maximum drug coverage with EEHC and dental while option 3 is the maximum protection plan offered by CAA.

The Plan for the Self-Employed allows you to include Drug 3 as well as Enhanced Extended Health Care (EEHC) which offers more comprehensive coverage and features. You can also add coverage for prescription drugs and dispensing fees as well as an optional dental coverage to help in reducing the number of out-of-pocket dental expenses you might have to pay.

  • The Plan for the Self-Employed includes option 1 (EHC + Drug 1 + Dental 1), option 2 (EEHC + Drug 3 + Dental 2), and option 3 (EEHC + drug 3 + dental 3).
  • Option 1 is best for occasional prescriptions and dental visits, option 2 provides maximum drug coverage with EEHC and dental while option 3 is the maximum protection plan offered by CAA.
  • The basic extended health care provides up to $400/year per registered specialists such as chiropractors, massage therapists etc, $250,000 in lifetime benefits not covered by the provincial government, and $3,000 per year, $3,500 per year for seniors, for approved medical equipment and registered nurses.
  • The Enhanced Extended Health Care (EEHC) is the most comprehensive care plan offered by CAA. This plan provides the insured up to $850 per year for registered specialists such as chiropractors, massage therapists and so forth; $350,000 in lifetime benefits not covered by the provincial government, and $9,500 per year, $10,000 per year for seniors, for approved medical equipment and registered nurses.
  • Drug 1 covers the cost of eligible prescription drug including $6.5 per prescription for dispensing fees, and $500 per year for eligible generic prescription drugs but coverage for seniors may vary.
  • Dental 1 covers eligible out-of-pocket dental costs including up to $700 per year for services like cleanings, examinations, select extractions, and x-rays.
  • Dental 2 covers eligible out-of-pocket dental expenses which include up to $900 per year for basic services like cleanings, extractions, examinations, fillings, x-rays, and other specialized procedures like root canals.
  • Drug 3 covers the cost of eligible prescription drugs which include full coverage of reasonable and customary dispensing fees and up to $10,000 per year for eligible prescription drugs, the coverage for seniors may vary. This feature is available only with EEHC.
  • Dental 2 covers eligible out-of-pocket dental expenses which include up to $1,200 per year for basic services like cleanings, extractions, examinations, fillings, x-rays, and other specialized procedures like root canals. It also covers 60% of expenses for major restorative work such as orthodontics and dentures.
