This type of mechanic disability insurance will pay you a percentage of your salary for the period. The duration of the disability insurance policy is as stated in the policy document and could vary from one insurer to the other.

For some insurers, mechanic long term disability insurance becomes effective as soon as the short-term coverage ends. Canadian Mechanic Accident Insurance News

Anthony Di Santo, a long-time Toronto mechanic who opened his small auto repair shop in 1963, says his auto repair shop will be in trouble if car insurance companies keep pushing people to use their own repair services.

Di Santo said TD insurance removed his business from the list of preferred vendors. This implies that the top insurance provider will not cover any repair done in his shop. He also added that the insurer did not provide any reason for their action when they sent the letter to him last October. When contacted by CBC Toronto, the insurer refused to provide any detail.

Many of Di Santo’s customers believe he had done something wrong that led to the removal. TD’s decision already has a negative impact on Di Santos’ business. According to Di Santo, insurers like TD are simply telling customers that they can not use his shop.
