Manitoba Auto Insurance News

Earlier in 2018, the Manitoba Public Insurance (MPI) requested the Public Utilities Board for a rate hike of 2.2% but Public Utilities Board granted a rate increase of 1.8% slightly below the percentage required by the public insurer. It granted a hike of 2.6% in 2017.

The rate hike is on basic compulsory motor vehicle insurance from MPI and the Public Utilities Board scheduled that it would become effective from March 1, 2019. The board also wrote that the rate hike will not include every motorist’s Autopac premium. Several factors determine the auto insurance rate such as the driving record, major vehicle class, make and model of vehicle and so forth.
