Driving Outside British Columbia

The Auto Insurance you Need when Driving Outside BC

You don’t need insurance coverage only when driving within B.C, you also need to be covered when driving outside B.C. ICBC provides the right coverage for you to stay protected anywhere in Canada and the United States, even in Hawaii and Alaska. However, you may need to change your insurance policy if your region requires you to license or register your vehicle. You may also need to change your coverage if you are mixing travel with business. If your vehicle will not be operated in B.C, you may need to register, license and insure your vehicle in the place you are visiting or living. Before you leave B.C, it is necessary to keep your insurance and driver’s license current. This is because you may not be covered in the event of a crash if your insurance expires.

You can also opt for Extension Under-insured Motorist Protection to protect you and your family members from the cost of injuries caused by another driver who may not have sufficient insurance.
