Brad Fedorchuk, the Senior Vice-President, Group Customer Experience and Marketing for Great-West Life pointed out that the average post-secondary student amasses up to $27,000 in student debt when they leave school and typically takes up to 10 years to pay it off. However, with the program, Indigo will make a matching contribution to the employees’ retirement savings account with Indigo’s group retirement and savings plan when an employee makes a payment on their Canada or provincial government student loan.
