Learn about Calgary Pet Insurance

As a pet parent residing in Calgary, pet insurance may be useful to cover medical costs related to your pet. Irrespective of the policy you take out, the plan should cover surgery, accidents, emergency care, illnesses, hospitalization, and diagnostic tests. Some plans also cover additional and optional coverage such as general wellness coverage which includes vaccinations and checkups.

The coverage and features offered by different pet insurance companies may differ. So, it is important to research each company to find out their specific coverage before you take out the policy. Also make sure you find out about the policy’s waiting periods, exclusions, limits, and stipulations. Some carriers may place a limit on the benefits reimbursement. This limit could be yearly or fall into the pet’s lifespan.

As pets age, they become prone to chronic illnesses and genetic diseases may show up. If the pet is diagnosed with any medical condition before the coverage takes effect, such condition may be excluded from the coverage. However, if the condition is diagnosed after the coverage takes effect, the pet will be covered. This is why if you live in Calgary, you need to get the right  pet insurance as soon as you can.
