Burnaby Health News

The city of Burnaby attained a high-risk level on the air quality health index in August 2018. Five out of the city’s six monitoring stations hit 8/10 on the scale on the morning of August 14, 2018, whereas measurements up to 7/10 are already considered to be high-risk. This means that the city residents should be highly cautious, especially when it comes to physical activities they are involved with.

The air pollution was caused by smoke from wildfires that raged around the Pacific Northwest which covered the entire region in a haze. Moreover, the level of particulate matter is very high, which is very disastrous for the local areas. Health Canada’s air quality health information advised those at risk to reschedule their strenuous outdoor activities or reduce them. People at risk include people with heart or lung issues and other chronic medical conditions.
