Anatolian Shepherd Dogs Pet Insurance News

Bella, a Windsor-based Anatolian Shepherd dog, was inducted into the Purina Animal Hall of Fame for saving a stranger who was having a heart attack.

Dogs like Bella are honored for their heroism and devotion every year.

Dean McNeil, Manager, PR & Corporate Communications, Nestlé Purina PetCare Canada said: “every year we are amazed by the various ways in which heroic animals save human lives”. McNeil said that the 2015 inductees have an unbelievable sense of awareness. Each of them kept human lives safe in unique ways when people were not available. Some rescued their owners, their loved ones and in some cases, a total stranger.

When she and her owner, Rob Sheardown, were coming back from their daily walk, Bella, who was bred to protect livestock, came to the rescue.

Bella is an obedient dog but when they were waiting for the apartment’s elevator on the ground floor, the dog refused to enter when the door opened. She ignored Sheardown’s commands but led her owner into the lobby.

Sheardown, who was confused by what was going on, followed the dog into one of the couches in the lobby. He then discovered an elderly man sweating profusely, pale, complaining of severe chest pains and lying on the ground.
